CLUB ANIO50 is a socio-cultural, philanthropic, non-religious, non-partisan pressure group open to all social, political and religious persuasions from the ANIOMA area in Delta State, Nigeria.
Who we are!
Club ANIO 50 was established in 1987 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria by fairly well placed persons who hail from all the local government areas of what we now refer to as Anioma. The Club is a modest organization, intensely committed to the rehabilitation and upliftment of the quality of life of the entire Anioma people. The circumstance of its birth was the benign neglect, degrading injustice and humiliating denials, which the governments and sections of the defunct Bendel State subjected our people to.
The Club has always served as a medium for bringing together resource persons, well meaning and patriotic individuals, to recognize their common identity and pursue vigorously a more acceptable and civilized order. In pursuit of this, we have executed a number of programmes and participated in a number of democratic struggles with the sole purpose of giving our Anioma people, their rightful place in Nigeria. Such struggles include the much-vexed issue of the last senatorial district delimitation exercise where there was the evil design to balkanize Anioma into two to augment other senatorial districts. We were heavily involved in the bitter and costly struggle over the last state creation exercise. That struggle where we ended as a major component of Delta State, rather than a homogeneous Anioma State, is now part of our contemporary history, which you are all conversant with.
